What Do We Believe?

Here at The Table we are not blind to the world we live in. It's wild out there, and our church owes it to you to be clear about where we stand on doctrinal issues. We seek to clearly define ourselves as a church that teaches a biblical and historical Christianity. The following doctrinal statements are beliefs that the members of our church affirm. We do not hold anyone outside of the Christian faith to these standards.

!. WE believe the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God, without any error, the all-sufficient authority in matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian living (2 Timothy. 3:16-17)

2. WE believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; John 15:26)

3. WE believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, and that He is truly God and man (Matthew 1:23). He died on the cross for our sins (Romans 10:9-13). He rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where He sits at the right hand of the Father and is now our High Priest and advocate. (Hebrews 7:24, 12:2)

4. WE believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is, therefore, lost. Only through regeneration (new birth by believing in Christ) by the work of the Holy Spirit can man's salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

5. WE believe that eternal salvation is the free gift of God, entirely apart from man's works, and is possessed by all who have faith in and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

6. WE believe in a regenerated church membership (1 Corinthians 12:21-26). That is, persons old enough to understand their need for Jesus Christ, and, of their own free will, accept Him as their personal Lord and savior, then follow into baptism by immersion. (Matthew 28:19)

7. WE believe that baptism is by immersion and the Lord's Supper is a memorial to His suffering and death on the cross. These are ordinances to be observed by the church in it's present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means for man's salvation. (Colossians 2:12)

8. WE believe in the personal, bodily, imminent, and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that His second coming inspires believers for dynamic and zealous life and service for Him as we wait for His return. (Hebrews 9:28)

9. WE believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the everlasting blessings of the saved in heaven, and the eternal punishment of everlasting destruction from God of the unsaved in hell. (Matthew 25:46, 2 Thessalonians 1:9)

10. WE believe in the autonomy of the local church. The church shall manage its own affairs and shall not be subject to any other religious body or organization.

11. WE believe God is the Creator and therefore He gets to declare if we are male or female. This is not left to our own decision/discretion/declaration. (Genesis 1:27, 2:21-22)

12. WE believe that the Bible clearly states that marriage is between one genetically determined man and one genetically determined woman. We take this stand on marriage from the Word of God. (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6)
